2019 Holiday Home Tour

This year I’ve been so excited to decorate for Christmas. Partly because my children are getting a little older to where they can be surprised and appreciate all of the decorations, and also because of my new addiction to the Target Bullseye Playground and Rae Dunn :).

For our house, my husband is partial to the multi-colored tree with all of the random ornaments we have collected over the years, and I am partial to the themed trees. So as a compromise, the real tree that we get goes in our living room and gets the multicolored lights, while the fake 9 foot tree that we have goes in our dining room and I get to change out the theme every year!

This year, I added an ADDITIONAL 3rd tree to go in our kitchen. I may have a slight problem, but hey, if you have the space you should use it (right!??) haha!

So here are this year’s pictures of our home!!!

The Dining Room

This has always been one of my favorite rooms of our house. It is centrally located and one of the rooms that I ALWAYS decorate for the seasons. Annnnd like I mentioned before, it is the room that I have complete control over how I want to decorate it, which always makes this mama happy!

This year’s theme for this room was heavy on the reds with accents of green. I know there is A LOT of trends for the neutral colors (and I will get there I’m sure), but I wanted to make sure I created a space that would still bring the spirit of Christmas into our home for my kids. With the red and green colors, anyone would feel the season in this room! And the buffalo plaid table runner adds to the farmhouse look!

One way to really transform a Christmas tree, that doesn’t take a ton of effort and is used as a filler, is deco mesh. I used silver and red/white striped deco mesh in our tree this year. I used rolls that were about 10 inches wide, and cut them in lengths of about 18 inches. For the striped pieces, they automatically want to curl back up and I let them. Then just stick them in the tree! The silver pieces, instead of letting them curl, I folded the edges down to create a “balloon” effect and then stuffed the tree. It really takes care of any empty spaces before hanging the ornaments.

Can you spot the Target Bullseye items in this bookshelf???!!

And on this tiered tray!? I’m so in love with how it turned out. Super simple.

I made the twine place mats out of sisal cord. Check out the tutorial here!

This picture really brings out all of those warm and fuzzy feelings. All it needs is a comfy chair next to it!

The above picture is also a Target Bullseye item. I love how simplistic it is, and I love the wood.

The Kitchen

This room has really taken on a transformation this year. We started on our white cabinets over a year ago (life with children), and got the doors up in time for the holidays. It really make me fall in love with the room all over again and this year is the first year, I’ve wanted to decorated it for Christmas. I added wreaths that were purchased at Joann’s to the windows and cabinets.

We also added a coffee bar (check out how to make your own here!), and I have absolutely loved decorating it for the seasons.

The other day I told my husband “I’m already excited for next Christmas.” He was like… “ummm what????” HAHAHAHAHA. Well I already know the theme this tree will be next year, and yes, I’m already excited. He thinks I’m crazy…..

I love the pot holders craft on this tree. Complete with the hand prints of my children. I smile every time I walk by it. The craft is super easy, with just a blank pot holder, paint, and a sharpie needed! I also got a little crafty by using an over-sized Santa bag as my “tree skirt.” I’ve seen those tree boxes that are coming into style, but I wanted to use something I already had, and this worked out perfect!

My coffee bar is one of my favorite corners of my house! Complete with my addiction to Rae Dunn, it really makes me happy to see it. Check out how to make your own here!

I added some wreaths to the doors, used matching table runners throughout my dining room and kitchen, and spiced it up with some Santa decorations.

My farmhouse table (made with love by my husband for my anniversary present) is a piece of furniture that will be in our family for the rest of my lifetime. I love it so much.

I’ve also become obsessed with tiered trays this year!… I may have a problem… 🙂

And more tiered trays….

The Living Room

This year, I decided to add some lighted garland to the entry way and staircase. The garland is actually plain 9ft garland from Target that I got on sale for about $3.50 a piece. Add some bows, lights, and ribbon, and you’ve got yourself a really beautiful piece!

And there you go! I hope everyone is having a very MERRY Christmas. I’m already trying to figure out next year’s theme for my dining room for those Day After Christmas Sales! I’m up for ideas!

Happy Home Sweet Home,

Love, Brittany
