5 Great Books for the Baby’s First Year

Reading to your little one is one of the best bonding times for a parent.  When Ember was about six months old, we started reading to her.  As you may know, (or will find out), babies and toddlers love repetition and knowing what to expect.  These five books are simple reads for your little boy or girl.  Soon enough, you will see them pointing to body parts, or anticipating what happens on the next page.  It melts my heart when I think back on reading these to Ember ♥.  And better yet, they are all board books!  So your little one won’t tear any of the pages (we have experienced that too,  haha.)  I hope you enjoy this post and find it useful!

Horsey Up and Down is a great book for learning opposites and for having your child be involved.  You can move the horsey up and down, open a barn door, and move a horse from side to side!  It’s a cute rhyming book that my little one read on repeat!

Counting Kisses is such a fun little book to interact with your little one!  It’s great for learning how to count and for learning different body parts.  Ember loved anticipating which part of her body we would be kissing next!  She loved this one ♥♥♥.

  • I Love You Through and Through, I would have to say, is my favorite.  It was actually given to me from a co-worker of mine when I was pregnant with Ember.  I remember the first time we got it out to read, I started tearing up because it truly spoke to my soul (and it’s a children’s book!).  It is now one of my go-to gifts for anyone I know who is having a baby.  I highly recommend!

Where is Baby’s Belly Button? is a fun book that your baby can go through and lift the pages in search of different body parts, including the belly button!  The belly button was probably Ember’s favorite body part and now she calls it her “button” haha!  This is a cute book and good for  teaching your little one about body parts!

Goodnight Baby is a perfect book for bedtime.  This book goes through different animals getting ready for bed.  It is simple and a perfect length for a baby/toddler to read before bedtime.  The front even has crinkly ears on the elephant!

I hope you enjoyed this post!  With Christmas right around the corner, these are a few books that your little one will enjoy!  What books did your little one love?  Let me know in the comments!
