Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp hot water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Mixed together 1 cup each of butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until it becomes a cream.

  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.

  4. Mix in the 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

  5. Add the 1 tsp of baking soda to 2 tsp of hot water and swirl/mix together until it has dissolved. Add baking soda water to the batter along with 1/2 tsp of salt.

  6. Stir in 3 cups of flour and chocolate chips.

  7. Drop by the tbsp onto pan.

  8. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until edges are browned.

Recipe Notes

  1.  If you like "cake-ier" cookies, add in 1 extra cup of flour.  I've made them both ways, and they are both delicious!
  2. I have always used 2 bags of chocolate chips, one white chocolate, and one milk chocolate.  You can alter this to preference. My motto - The more the merrier! :)
